Blog Post #2

Twitter is a social media where people communicate with their friends, socialize, meet new people and discover new things happening around the world. Although you can do variety of stuff on twitter, there are also many negative impacts that could harm an individual.

We communicate, laugh together behind our screens and share our inner thoughts about things to other people. Sharing your own opinion about a certain thing isn’t bad but sometimes other people take it too seriously to the point that they feel offended even your tweet is not directed to them.

And this is where cyberbullying takes place. I have seen many direct and indirect tweets on twitter, some are good but mostly are bad. This kind of action is really necessary to high school students. Since we are teenagers, we don’t usually accept a lot of people in our life, but it’s normal, it happens all the time.

Direct hate tweets are inappropriate, it doesn’t matter if you know an individual personally or not. Online hate is a sin and mentioning their names in public makes it worse. Telling someone’s weakness publicly is utterly wrong. Once you post something on twitter, not only your friends can see it, but also people around the world.

The inventor surely did not intend to create twitter to be used for negative purposes, but people made it happen. There are many negative impacts on twitter that the inventor did not want or expect to happen and cyberbullying is just on of them.

I used to post on twitter almost everyday, but now I only go there to check what’s happening and to greet people on their birthdays. I don't really post anything really personal on twitter but some might do and some people can easily copy your personal information and put on sites without you knowing.

People need to be aware, including myself, on the things we post not only on twitter, but also in other social medias. There are many limitations that are forgotten or ignored that could lead any of us to the wrong direction.

I’m pretty sure a lot have experienced or witness cyberbullying or invading privacy on social medias, do you think hating on others will give a lot of attention? If so, do you think you will gain a good reputation from this?
